Beer to End the Year

We know everybody's going to have a busy December to end the year, but we couldn't help ourselves: we had to brew up a bunch of limited release beers and events. It's just how we are.

First off, the beers. Look for more Nut ReMix hitting the tap room and stores this month. It was so well received we decided to give it a second batch. We'll also have a new version of Cat Nap IPA with Belgian yeast and a few other offerings throughout December. Keep an eye out for these limited edition brews.

Now, to events.

This Saturday, UCAN of Memphis will hold a Chili Cook-Off in our event room 1-5 p.m. Sampling starts at 2 p.m. with $10 for unlimited chili samples.

For those brave enough to subject their chili to the judges, prizes will be given for Chef's Choice, Best Spicy Chili, Best Turkey Chili and other categories.

UCAN of Memphis, a local nonprofit which mentors at-risk behavior children, is still looking for contestants. If you're interested, call Leshundra Robinson at 901-619-8604.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, we're hosting the Cooper-Young Community Association's Holiday Volunteer Appreciation Party from 6 to 8 p.m.

If you've volunteered in Cooper Young this year, turn out for this fun neighborhood event.

That same day, we're donating beer to the “In the Christmas Spirit Concert” with the MDs and Goner Records at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

The event is 6 to 8 p.m. with the MDs playing the classic Booker T and the MGs Christmas album and other Stax hits.

Bring $10 or a non-perishable food item for the Mid-South Food Bank for half-off admission.

Back at the brewery, we've got a pair of events for the weeks leading into Christmas.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, the Comma Comedians are putting on a show in the tap room. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the comedy starting around 8 p.m. $2 gets you in the door.

Just before Christmas, some of the members of Snowglobe are coming to Memphis Made to perform in the round. They'll be playing 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22 for what promises to be a great show from a great local band.

The tap room will be open Christmas Eve from 1-4 p.m. so that you can fill up growlers or get last-minute gifts. We'll be closed Christmas Day.

Finally, it's never too early to start looking to next year to increase your beer knowledge.

In January, we'll be hosting several events around the Bluff City Brewers & Connoisseurs' big home brew competition.

There will be beer judge training sessions, beer judging, and more. If you've ever wanted to learn more about tasting and judging beer, this is a great opportunity with a variety of ways to plug in.

More info can be found at www.bluffcitybrewers.com.

That's about all we have to say about 2016. It's been a great year at Memphis Made and we're looking forward to more beers and good times in 2017.
